It is a long and arduous journey. My next five books are gonna be short ones.
Oh, incidentally, I just had to read an amazing book for one of my MFA classes. It’s a nonfiction book, D.J Waldie’s Holy Land: A Suburban Memoir. The book is impossible to describe. It’s basically a capsule history of pretty much everything about his little SoCal suburb (Lakewood), its history, the construction of the houses, the layout, the water sources, etc. And its interspersed with little anecdotes about a few of its residents and little things about his life (he’s a city official who lives in a house he inherited from his parents). A very weird story; very enigmatic. But I found it extremely gripping.
